Background

Managerial effectiveness varies widely from organization to organization and from job to job and hence the criterion of effectiveness needs to be carefully and objectively defined. Effectiveness is best seen as something a manager produces from a situation by managing it appropriately. The term managerial effectiveness implies to the extent to which an official achieves the output requirements of the organization by using and implementing his or her managerial skills and strategies through his work force, peer groups and subordinates.

'Effectiveness' involves doing the "Right Things at the Right Time". Managers must be effective as they are responsible for the timely results and timely performance of their teams which in turn ultimately decides the effectiveness of the Organisation. The New Age Technology, the highly competitive market, the customer centricity, and the rapidly increasing customer expectations compel today's managers to improve their managerial skills manifold.

To achieve this a manager must develop an effective style of leadership. He/she must explore and identify the hidden potential that lies within him/herself and also in his/her teammates. Innovation and speed in decision-making and providing prompt customer services is going to be the game changer, which will ultimately determine who will be the Market Leader tomorrow.
